Jonni is a Senior Engineer at Equinox Ventures, where he takes a hands-on approach to coding, particularly within the “Lab Master” project. He develops reusable code patterns to enhance the engineering team’s efficiency and help maintain a clean, adaptable codebase. Recently, he was assigned to lead the technical aspects of the Apollo Project, Equinox’s new venture with a hospital chain in India, where his prior experience in flexible project management and technical leadership is valued. While his primary focus is hands-on coding, Jonni’s broad background allows him to take on responsibilities beyond typical engineering tasks, providing critical support wherever it’s needed.

Before Equinox

Jonni’s career has spanned a range of engineering and leadership roles. He started as a Senior Engineer at RedBubble, where he focused on developing experiments to drive customer acquisition, later taking on a broader role to improve business outcomes. He then moved to Weploy, where he built engineering teams and managed growth, bringing in technical leadership as well as hands-on development. He has also been involved in founding a project management plugin and worked with Red Owl AI as a fractional CTO, where he oversaw hiring strategies and laid technical groundwork for future team expansion. Jonni’s journey has taken him through various startup environments, often focusing on both technical development and business strategy.

If you got a year off with full pay, what would you do?

I’d try to convince Ben, Brendan and Thil to start a business together. It’d be great to work with friends and build something together.

Favourite travel destination so far?

You’re going to laugh—I have been to many places, but I’ll say Perth. Got to give Australia some love.

Interstellar.

Outside Equinox

Jonni’s personal life revolves around his family, especially raising his toddler. In the past, he enjoyed hiking and attending meditation retreats, but these days, his focus has shifted to family activities, with beach outings being a favourite. He finds fulfilment in fostering his toddler's curiosity and guiding them towards independent thinking. Jonni values the everyday moments of parenting, taking pride in teaching his toddler to make thoughtful choices and understand their world—a role he embraces as both challenging and deeply rewarding.
